Enough Said? Guess Not.

Readers responded to Enough Said. We are listening.

Seriously, we didn't threaten to quit writing long-winded editorial pieces because we were looking to get a vote of confidence. But that's what happened. We received several emails from understanding (but clearly disappointed) readers. "Hmm", we thought. (Do you ever have a thought that -- if verbalized -- wouldn't be a real word at all? Another good one is "Gack!")

As we indicated in Enough Said, it does take a whole lot more energy and time to write straight editorials (and satires and parodies, et cetera) than we put into Totalitarian Burger. At the same time, we wondered how many actual readers we were getting, as opposed to one-handed clickers looking for pornography. (Search terms like 'rape', 'sexual abuse' and 'little girls' brings a lot of sickos to this site.)

Admittedly, we were a little disgruntled at the lack of response to our trivia contest. And after polling readers about financial support for this site, and setting up an online store, we really expected more than one person to purchase something from it. (OK, it's a little pricey, but we aren't adding much to the base price.) The Essayist has given up and departed, so now there's only three of us (or still one, if you go with the multiple personality disorder theory).

Is it unreasonable to think that at some point, we will make enough to cover expenses without shoving advertisements into faces from every blank space on these pages? Perhaps so. And yet, writers must write, like hemophiliacs have to bleed. (Not that the writing stopped. There are other sites for which one can write for nothing, but anyway...) There is a certain amount of writing that we can publish here because it will be written anyway, regardless of financial support (or lack thereof). If you want to see more content here, consider buying a shirt, mouse pad or mug.

So here's the newest plan. It isn't financially sound, but it will do for now. We will publish editorials, satire and whatever else we feel like, when we feel the need to bleed. We will begin accepting guest articles again. We will publish at least one Totalitarian Burger comic each week. (Maybe two, but we need to adjust to the economic realities somehow, and most online comics seem to be published once per week.) There will be polls and whatever else, pretty much like always. Just don't be disappointed if you don't see a new editorial every freaking week!

Since we have quit publishing responses to articles (takes too much time), we have asked the current members of our eGroup mailing list if they would mind having it opened up to discussions. It has been utilized only for notification of new content. We're waiting to hear back on that.

While we explore other sites that pay for content, we will continue to evaluate how much it costs in time, energy and FEES to keep adding content to unquietmind that is similar to what you've read here in the past. We aren't asking you to take food out of the baby's mouth, but if you want to help keep this site going strong, you can probably figure out something to do about it.

Be informed when new content is added. Email a Link to this page. Email the SOB who publishes this.
