Yes, we value your privacy. Do you value ours?
Here's the information we gather about you, if all you do is surf. We know:
None of that (by itself) reveals your name, email address, home page URL, home address, credit card numbers, mother's maiden name, or the fact that you secretly admire J. Danforth Quayle. Your IP address sometimes reveals what part of the world you are surfing from, but not always. If you use the Computer Price Comparisons form to send notes to yourself, we'll get a copy of that email. We want to know how often it's being used and what computer configurations people are considering. If you use the Bizarre Rumour Generator and email one to an acquaintance, we will get both your email address and that of the person you sent it to. (We're making sure nobody's using it for spam.) If you use the "Email a Link" link, we will know your address (if you fill it in) and the addresses to whom you recommended whatever specific pages. So -- when we do have access to it -- what do we do with your email address, name, surfing patterns and comments? Do we throw targeted banner ads in your face for pink bunny slippers because that's what you were looking for in AltaVista when you somehow got here? Nope. Don't. Won't. Your data -- the little to which we have access -- is safe with us. |
